Are you afraid to go to the LTO to renew your car registration? It is your first time to register your car?

Are you afraid to go to the LTO to renew your car registration? It is your first time to register your car?

I Guess not!

Hope I can help you, I tell you, It is so easy to renew car registration now… unlike the previous years, believe me.

I'm not an expert but I did it the same way every year. It is better to learn and experience things by your own. First thing to consider is go to the nearest LTO office in your place, for conveniences though- Save gas and travel time. In my case, I went to LTO NCR office located at Delta Bldg., Mirasol St., Cubao, Quezon City, it is easy to find this place just between 20 ave., and Mirasol St. in Cubao. (they transferred to the new Building) If you are familiar with the place :) . (just ask me for direction, if you get lost!) When you about to enter, in the entrance gate (This is a covered warehouse), you will be greeted by friendly LTO personnel, they will asked you, “renewal?” space_” insurance?” space_”smoke emission test?”, if you say NO to any of these. my tip get your TPL insurance before hand, this is compulsory when renewing your LTO registration, another tip, get it to your friendly agent :). In my case, I went to Ms.Nikki @Philcharter near the area also, which I requested a day before the schedule date, it cost me 616.00 only, just Pick up and go. Then, I got my Smoke Emission Test also just near the 20th ave and Marisol st. (New Building also), they charge me 350 plus 80. For about 20mins of waiting, my done! Hell yeah! Now!  Back to LTO, when everything is in your hands (All Documents needed), they have LTO personnel assigned there to get / help you with your stencil. (just ask for help), on the Motor Vehicle Inspection Report (MVIR), Usually he will help you in filling up the MVIR. He will get your actual car engine and car chassis number-no worries they know it where to find.

It is my 2nd year here, though the place is relatively new, almost 2years old, if I’m not mistaken, covered parking which I think will accommodate 20-40 vehicles each time, luckily I got a spot on time. Don’t forget to give him a small token of appreciation “pakimkim” afterwards. then, He will accompany you to the inspector., give all docs to the inspector, for checking and he will signed and stamped it. Then proceed to window 6, 7, 8, it says Evaluator, Submit your documents for validation and assessment of fees. Just make it sure that you give all your docs to the person assigned to that windows, seated next to the table.  If you get lost ask the friendly guard assigned near the entrance door. (see his picture there, mahiyain!  While waiting for your name to be called, I may suggest, you may sit at the new benches, observe other people, read memos and LTO rules posted to refresh our   driving rules and regulation, signs, knowledge and skills :) or mingle with others. The place is very comfy, it is air conditioned plus additional 3big industrial fans in all corners. They have assigned seats and places for car registration and license registration. And or you may bring your own books or iPod if you prefer. They will call one by one using state-of-the-art-sound system… :) so, listen for about a minute or so, it will be your name next. Now when your name called, Get your docs to Window 7, proceed to Window 10 - Cashier– fall in line please, after Paying 2,220++(depending on your car), go to Window 9- Approving Officer, just for signing, when go to adjacent Window- Releasing Section, hand over all your docs again, in return she will give you your new Official Receipt (O.R) and New Sticker. Keep it though and be careful not to lost it! Now I’m Done!

Other reminders;

1.
  1. Be a habit to have a Xerox copy of all your documents, especially your OR/CR and Car Insurance on your car all the time, you will need it.
  2. Don’t submit Original Certificate of Registration (C.R), keep it. No one will ask for it, unless you sell your car.
  3. If you are going to transfer LTO office, they will charge you additional 100.00, for change of venue.
  4. They have a new Memo, for Smoke Emission Test, should be near and accredited LTO office only.
  5. Not all LTO office is the same.
  6. Register on time, to eliminate penalty charges. 200.00 Depending on the length.
  7. If it OFFLINE, there is nothing we can do. Just wait or reschedule the other day, sorry folks!
  8. Do not transact with FIXERs – you can do it alone.
  9. When you are going to register,” ito ang malupit”—don’t forget to bring your car! No more non- appearance.

Always remember, there are things you need to consider in choosing your LTO office.
